FINE ART MAJORS: STUDENT CURATED ART SHOW APPLICATION DUE MONDAY

As high school students, no matter what grade or stage of life you’re at, there is always a color you can associate with yourself. The Student Art Show aims to display an artist’s ability to view the world through new colors. Marking Period Grades Available
Marking Period (MP) 1: ended Friday, October 20, 2023
Grades Viewable in NYCSA: Monday, October 30, 2023
o Grades will be reported as P, D or F.
- P = Passing (71-100)
- D = In Danger of Failing (65-70)
- F = Failing (0-64)
Marking Period 1 grades are Progress Reports to families. MP1 grades of P, D, and F are broad indicators. Please speak with your child for a more accurate grade or speak with the teacher.
While Marking Period Grades are Progress Reports from the school to families, there is an exception for Seniors going through the College Early Application Process. A college may contact a student's Guidance Counselor and request MP1 grades. This happens infrequently, but it does happen. The GC will transmit the MP1 grades to the requesting admissions officer, and the student may or may not be notified. This is our standard course of action during the Early Application Process. For more information, please speak with our College Advisor Ms. Blum or your GC.

Halloween Over the Years
DO NOW: Plan Your Halloween Costume
Halloween at LaGuardia Arts has always been a special day with unique traditions. Students and staff dress up in costumes inspired by that special creativity that sets LaGuardia apart from all other schools. Many members of the staff have expressed a strong desire to maintain the creative aspects of our Halloween tradition. As usual, we want you to celebrate your creativity; however, please be aware that, at the same time, we expect you to be respectful of others and still adhere to the rules and regulations of the school and NYC Public Schools.
For your own personal safety and security, you are advised not to wear your costume to or from school, but to bring your costume in a bag.
If you are not the costume-type person, wear black, green, orange, or purple.
What is not permissible?
- You may not wear a mask that covers your face. Face paint is allowed, as long as you’re still recognizable.
- You may not wear a costume which is considered to be lewd, indecent, or offensive or one that interferes with the educational process. These include costumes which depict terrorists, religious figures, or any costume deemed to be sexually explicit.
- Students dressed inappropriately will be required to change back into street clothes and their parents will be notified.
- You may not bring outsiders to school.
- You may not have any item in school that is normally not allowed in school. This includes cigarettes, lighters, handcuffs, masks, weapons or any other object with the potential to cause harm to oneself or to others. Such items will be confiscated and may not be returned.
- Students cannot leave class without a pass for any reason. Deans and security agents will be out patrolling the halls.
