LaGuardia Arts has always been a school with special traditions, as befits a school with a uniquely creative and artistic student body. Here are but a few of the special events which take place:
|
The All-School Musical is a LaGuardia Arts tradition. The Musical Theatre class, an elective school-wide course, is offered through the collaboration of faculty members from Music, Drama, Dance, and the Tech Theatre Studios, culminating in a major musical Theatre performance. Recent productions have included Les Misérables, West Side Story, Hair, Ragtime, and Hairspray.

Relay For Life is the signature fundraising event for the American Cancer Society. Since LaGuardia Arts began participating, our school community has raised nearly $200,000. Donations for this year’s Relay For Life are now being accepted: American Cancer Society Local Office; RFL LaGuardia High School; 132 West 32nd Street; New York, NY 10001.

Rising Stars is the annual LaGuardia Arts Talent Show traditionally sponsored by the Parents Association. Rising Stars is a talent show with a twist—this is the one time that students have a chance to cross studio borders and show what else they can do! Drama students sing! Instrumentalists dance! Artists do stand-up! Singers compose! From Hip Hop to Bee Bop, Rising Stars is a big, noisy and fun-filled evening for every member of the LaGuardia Arts community. |

Halloween is a very special day. Students and staff dress up in costumes that show off the creativity that sets LaGuardia Arts apart from all other schools. On October 31st, a special bell schedule provides for both regular instruction and time at the end of the day for a LaGuardia Arts tradition: the Costume Parade. Each student has an opportunity to dress up for the day and to compete for prizes in the parade. The Costume Parade is held in the LaGuardia Arts Theatre. |
