Our main fundraiser is our Annual Appeal. It is never too late to give your annual donation. We are hoping for 100% participation – no donation is too small, or too large.

Volunteer Opportunities at LA!
As you all know, volunteering is a great way to help the Parents Association raise funds for all the unique things we offer at LaGuardia. It is also a way to know what is going on in the school and get to know other involved and interesting parents. Below are ways you can be involved at various levels. Pick at least one and email us at laguardia_arts@yahoo.com. (Please include what you are interested in so we can direct your e-mail to the correct person)
Rising Stars – This is the PA gift to the students. This year’s show is THE CREATION OF HOPE and performances are February 29 and March 1. It is a talent show and all acts are initiated by the students. The PA hires school staff to work with the students and put the show together, but there is a lot of producing that the parents take on. There are 5 committees to take part in and they are:
- Chaperone – we will need people at auditions, technical rehearsals and performances. Basically you are the adult in the room.
- Ushering – this is for the performances.
- Box Office – selling tickets the weeks before the show and at performances or working on the on-line ticket sales.
- Program – selling program ads, helping collect and organize the copy for the program.
- Community Outreach – soliciting individual, corporate and small business donations, advertising and PR, working on creating an endowment for Rising Star scholarships.
Auction –The first annual LaGuardia Auction is being planned for May 10 at LaGuardia – so save the date. Donations are still being accepted but they need to be received by April 28. Volunteers are needed to help on the day of the event. Contact laguardiaauction@yahoo.com if you'd like to donate or help out.

We would like to thank the following sponsors for their generous support:
Merchandise – Show off the school out in the world. You can sell at events or during school lunch. You may also volunteer to do product research.
Hospitality – Snacks are a crucial part of all shows and it is our job, as parents, to provide them. Also for the auditions we do more than just sell food, we share our experiences with the nervous parents who want to know all they can about the school their kids may go to next year.
School Dance – What better way to bring all our kids together from their various studios. People will be needed to sell tickets, buy and sell drinks and snacks, find a DJ, decorate, and chaperone. The first dance is scheduled for February 15.
Grants – There is interest in forming a group to research and write grants for all areas of the school. The group would work with the PA Executive board and the SLT to help find resources outside of the immediate community to support our students. If you have skills and experience this is a great way to help.
We are always looking for new ways to raise money for the school. If you have an idea, please let someone on the executive board know about it. If you are aware of a grant we might qualify for or if you are a grant writer contact us now! There are so many things all schools do without these days, but as an arts school, there are things we need that the Department of Education doesn’t supply.
